Ina Arbuckle Elementary School is nestled in a small neighborhood in Jurupa Valley, California. The school has undergone many modernizations and upgrades since it opened in 1956—the most recent of which completed in March 2019. Getting there was no small feat as the community had to rally together to pass Measure EE Bond to fund the most recent modernization.

"We don’t have big businesses here, just a lot of people who care," said Superintendent Elliott Duchon at the Open House celebration on April 10th. The community saw a school with amazing, bright students and wanted their learning spaces to be just as spectacular.

"Our kids deserve the best resources and facilities that we as a district can provide for them," School Principal, James Wandrie stated. That's why Jurupa Unified School District hired Ruhnau Clarke Architects to bring bright and engaging learning spaces onto the campus.

The reimagined campus breaks down barriers and inspires kids to learn and explore—honoring the Districts vision to provide “learning without limits”. Elements of the new design include:

Relocated and modernized library serving as a community resource center
Modernized administration building bringing support staff under one roof and providing a welcoming space for students and staff
Brand new kindergarten building to accommodate the growing community and with a secured play area
Modernized classrooms offering daylighting and access to the latest learning technologies
Security upgrades providing peace of mind for parents

The modernization has increased the level of engagement for students and had a powerful and positive impact for community. The educational community can now take pride in this facility and watch their kids succeed.
