Ribbon Cutting for West Riverside Elementary School

District leaders, students, and community members celebrated the completion of the innovation center at West Riverside Elementary with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony on November 20, 2019. The building was dedicated to Rear Admiral Allen E. Hill in appreciation and recognition of his loyal and dedicated service in the United States Navy.

The wait is finally over as San Jacinto High School opens its new aquatics center. District and community members dreamed of a new pool for over twenty years but faced numerous funding challenges. After a gracious contribution from the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, they were finally able to make it a reality. The new pool is a place for students to learn perseverance, goal-setting, and resilience.

Two years ago, Barstow Unified School District (BUSD) broke ground for Barstow Fine Arts Academy, the second magnet school in their district. It followed shortly after Barstow STEM Academy, which opened in 2014 and established the district’s goal to open magnet schools that enrich the community. A fine arts academy was the clear next step to inspire creativity and artistic expression in the community.

City officials, school board members, district staff, and other members of the educational community gathered at Innovative Horizons Charter School (IHCS) on June 18th to break ground on a modernization/reconstruction project. "It's been three years since Perris Elementary School District (PESD) has opened our last elementary school,” remarked Francine Story, Chief Business Official of PESD. "At last, the time has finally come for Perris Elementary School District to break ground here at Innovative Horizons!"

The school has undergone many modernizations and upgrades since it opened in 1956—the most recent of which completed in March 2019. Getting there was no small feat as the community had to rally together to pass Measure EE Bond to fund the most recent modernization.
